Blur faces

Anonymise a photo before you share it: faces, license plates or document areas are detected on your device and pixelated or blurred. You can add or remove areas by hand.

About this tool

Hide Faces, Plates and Text Before You Share

Detection runs in your browser, and you check every box before anything is covered.

Three Detectors

Pixelate faces, Censor licence plates and Document blur, which finds the words on scanned documents and screenshots.

Boxes You Control

Tap a box to delete it, drag it to move it, pull a corner to resize it, or draw new boxes where detection missed something.

Three Cover Styles

Solid black, strong blur or mosaic. Solid black is the safest choice for text.

How to use it

  1. Drop a photo, screenshot or document image.
  2. Choose what to find — Pixelate faces, Censor licence plates or Document blur — and click Protect now.
  3. Check the boxes in Edit boxes, and switch to Draw boxes to add any area the detection missed.
  4. Pick a cover style: Solid black, Strong blur or Mosaic.
  5. Confirm with Yes, protect, then click Download safely.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every image is decoded, processed and encoded inside your browser tab with Canvas, Web Workers and WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Can I blur areas the detection missed?

Yes. Draw a box over any area to blur it, or remove a detected box you want to keep visible.

Is blur safe for text?

Strong blur and mosaic hide faces well, but short text can sometimes be guessed from its blurred shape. For names and account numbers, choose Solid black.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free to use without an account, and Toolula never adds a watermark. The free plan has fair-use limits; Toolula Pro, an optional plan, raises them.
