Upscale images
Make a small photo larger: choose 2× or 4× and compare the result with the original. Toolula enlarges in two high-quality passes and sharpens the edges afterwards.
About this tool
Enlarge Small Photos 2× or 4×
Make a small image bigger for print or a large screen, and compare it with the original before you save.
High-Quality Passes
Each 2× step uses high-quality resampling on your graphics card, followed by light sharpening; 4× runs two steps.
Works Without a Graphics Card
If your browser cannot use the graphics card, Toolula takes a slower path on the processor, so older devices work too.
Save as PNG, JPG or WebP
Choose the download format and, for JPG and WebP, the quality.
How to use it
- Drop the image you want to enlarge.
- Choose 2× or 4×.
- Click Enlarge image and follow the progress step by step.
- Drag the before/after comparison to check details such as text and edges.
- Pick PNG, JPG or WebP and download; the file name ends in -2x or -4x.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every image is decoded, processed and encoded inside your browser tab with Canvas, Web Workers and WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.
How does the enlargement work?
The image is enlarged in 2× steps with high-quality resampling on your graphics card, then lightly sharpened to recover edge detail. No AI model is downloaded.
Can it add detail that was never in the photo?
No. Enlarging makes the image bigger and smoother, and sharpening restores edge contrast, but it cannot invent detail. Start from the largest original you have.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
Yes, it is free to use without an account, and Toolula never adds a watermark. The free plan has fair-use limits; Toolula Pro, an optional plan, raises them.
